BIOGRAPHY
Known for her brilliant technique and exquisite musicality, VICTORIA SHOROKHOVA is recognized as a versatile musician specializing in organ and piano. Named to Diapason magazine’s “20 Under 30, Class of 2023” for her accomplishments in organ performance, Victoria brings a distinctive voice to music ranging from early to contemporary styles, with a particular passion for French symphonic and modern works, repertoire that most closely reflects her artistic identity.
Victoria is in demand both as a soloist and a collaborative musician. She has performed extensively across Russia, Europe (Estonia, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland), and the United States. Recent concert engagements include appearances with the Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City; St. Philip Cathedral in Atlanta; St. Thomas Church and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City; and both Grace Cathedral and the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco. In 2019, Victoria was invited to perform continuo at the Mariinsky Concert Hall in Saint Petersburg for a brass recital.
Shorokhova is a prizewinner of multiple national and international competitions, including second prize at the 2024 National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance (San Francisco); a diploma and special prize at the III International Braudo Organ Competition in Saint Petersburg (2019); and second prize at the XXVI International Competition of Sacred Music in Rumia, Poland (2014). Her professional development includes participation in renowned organ academies in Alkmaar (Netherlands, 2013), Graz (Austria, 2014), and Kotka (Finland, 2015). Victoria has also studied in masterclasses with prominent organists such as Ludger Lohmann, Arvid Gast, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Isabelle Demers, Jesse Eschbach, and others.
Originally from a small town in the Novgorod region of Russia, Victoria was accepted to study piano at the prestigious professional music school affiliated with Saint Petersburg Conservatory at the age of twelve. Upon graduation, she continued her education at Saint Petersburg State Conservatory, earning degrees in piano (2016, under Professor Vladimir Shakin) and organ (2017, in the studio of Daniel Zaretsky; harpsichord with Yelena Seredinskaya). Victoria also holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Humanities from Saint Petersburg State University (2019), with a major in Historical Performance on Keyboard Instruments. Her studies there included organ with Daniel Zaretsky, harpsichord with Andrey Kolomiytsev, and carillon with Josef Willem Haazen.
From 2015 to 2020, Shorokhova taught piano and served as a collaborative pianist at both the Andreev Children’s School of Music and the Glinka Children’s School of Arts in Saint Petersburg, preparing and accompanying students for performances across the city.
In 2022, Victoria earned her Master’s degree in Organ Performance from Georgia State University, where she studied with Dr. Jens Korndörfer and served as Sacred Music Intern at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. Currently based in Houston, Texas, she is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance at the University of Houston in the studio of Daryl Robinson. She also serves as Organ Scholar at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
