BIOGRAPHY

Praised as a “rising star” in 2020 by the Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung, LUKAS HASLER (b. 1996) is one of the world’s most successful organists on social media with more than 80,000 followers on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Lukas enjoys recognition for his colorful and passionate musicality as his developing international concert career demonstrates, having already taken him to Europe, Asia, and some of the largest cathedrals in the United States. Recent performance highlights include the opening ceremony of the Salzburg Festival, the Tyrolean Festival Erl, Organ Summer at the Saint Florian Bruckner Organ, the International Organ Festival in Düsseldorf (IDO), and the Russian Music Festival of the Volgograd Philharmonic. In 2022, Lukas was the first foreign classical musician to perform in Ukraine after the Russian invasion, playing two benefit concerts in the Lviv Concert Hall for victims of the war. In addition to concertizing, Lukas has also performed as a choral conductor and composed transcriptions for the organ. A Portrait, Lukas’s first solo CD released in the summer of 2019, features organ music by Bach, Liszt, Dupré, as well as his original improvisations. 


Lukas has also found success in several international competitions having won the Prima la Musica music competition for organ twice, the Grand Prix at the International Organ Competition in Malta (2019), and the Bärenreiter-Special prize (2014) for his interpretation of J.S. Bach. As a composer, Lukas was named a finalist in the Jugend Komponiert (2015), a competition for young composers, for his piano and violin suites. 


At the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, Lukas Hasler studied organ with Ulrich Walther, graduating with distinction. In 2019, Lukas completed his Master’s degree in Cultural and Media Management Studies at the University of Hamburg, Germany. In 2020, Lukas spent a year studying abroad at the Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg in France under the tutelage of Johann Vexo. Afterward, Lukas continued his time abroad in New York City. Both as an organist and composer, Lukas has attended master classes with Jean Guillou, Ton Koopman, Ludger Lohmann, and Skip Sempé. Currently, Lukas is a doctoral student at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
