BIOGRAPHY

The AEMeyer DUO has performed together for almost twenty years delighting audiences throughout North America and Europe with programs that are innovative, whimsical, and often surprising. Their unique pairing of flute and organ is a refreshing take on two seemingly mismatched instruments, while their repertoire celebrates the power of the organ and the expressiveness of the flute, demonstrating both the versatility of the instruments and virtuosity of the players.  In 2019, the AEMeyer Duo was one of the featured concert soloists at the Southwest NJ AGO Regional convention, where they performed Dan Locklair’s Sonata da Chiesa.

In the fall of 2020, AEMeyer released their debut album, Fantasmagoria, which features five new compositions specifically written for the duo. These pieces, composed in 2018 by Carson Cooman, Parker Kitterman, Till Meyn, Erik Meyer, and Kile Smith, became known as the Fantasmagoria collection and were designed to be used on the concert stage as well as in a worship setting. Jazzy, liturgical, cunning, vocal, and exuberant by turn, each new work brings a unique perspective to the singing qualities of the flute and the sonorous capabilities of the organ as well as the agility of the flutist and the dexterity of the organist. The American Organist (May 2021) recently published Anna’s article on the history of flute and organ, which includes an introduction to the newly-commissioned works featured on the album.

Anna Meyer holds degrees in Flute Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, The Peabody Conservatory, and a doctorate from Temple University. She performs regularly with regional orchestras and is an Artist-in-Residence and adjunct faculty member at Temple University.

Erik Meyer received his degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. In addition to being an organist, Erik is an award-winning composer with works published by Music Spoke and others. Erik’s compositions have won awards from the American Guild of Organists, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and the Presbyterian Association of Musicians. In addition to being the organist at Abington Presbyterian Church, Erik teaches music at Temple University.

Initially brought together by their common love of music, Anna and Erik are now partners on and off the stage. They are based in the greater Philadelphia area and have two middle school-aged children.

The AEMeyer Duo is represented by Seven Eight Artists.
